The Royal Mile

Running from the Castle to The Palace of Holyrood House, the Royal Mile comprises Castlehill, the Lawnmarket, High Street and The Canongate in one of the most historic miles in the world. It is the heart of the City, vibrant and teeming with life especially at festival time when every yard swarms with the best street performers from around the world.

Beneath its cobbles lies a dark labyrinth of sinister and haunted vaults and tunnels that may be visited, and between its cobbles you may spot the occasional set of brass cobbles marking the position of ancient walls, gallows, churches and toll-booths.

Chocolate Soup

Located right in the heart of town is this haven from the busy street – right on Hunter Square, there’s a wealth of delicious muffins and cakes, real coffees, and of course a truly world-beating mug of hot chocolate to be enjoyed in cool, light airy space as you watch the world roll by.
