main navigation:This is the best surviving example of the 18th Century highlife. The well-to-dos of Edinburgh decided that they were fed up with the crowded conditions of the Old Town, and decided to develop a new way of Edinburgh life, of which this is the shining example. It was designed in Georgian Classic style by the famous and influential Scottish Architect Robert Adam, and contains stunning collections of period china, furniture, silverware and art, spread across three floors, all beautifully decorated just as they would have been when the building was opened way back in 1796.
Just through the gap in the middle of the eastern side of Charlotte Square you will find this stylish little bar right there, It’s leathery and cosy with attentive service and a dazziling array of cocktails, organised according to character, so you can set yourself up to fit your mood precisely. Clever stuff… It’s a great place for a sit-down and a comfy chat, so pop in and treat yourself.
