Palace of Holyrood House

The History of this magnificent Palace dates back to 1128 when it was founded as a monastery. People flock from the world over to see this place, once home to Mary, Queen of Scots, and to generation upon generation of the Royal Families of Scotand and Great Britain. When Queen Elizabeth II comes to Edinburgh, this is where she stays. The palace is open to the public, and within you can see a glimpse of Royal Life and the sumptous surroundings of the Palace.

The Palace is also home to part of the Queen’s collection of art, including many significant works by the great masters.

The Palace is open daily with some exceptions. For full details on opening times and admission prices see the official website.
