Haymarket

Haymarket station is only a 2 minute train ride from Waverley on the same line, in the West End of town. From here you can catch a train to Glasgow or jump on most trains heading North or West (check with passenger rail enquiries before assuming that you can board here). This is the best train station to get off at for Murrayfield Rugby Stadium, the home of Scottish Rugby as well as the bars, pubs and clubs of the West End.

There are some particularly distinguished Edinburgh pubs in the area (most notably the Caledonian Ale House and Ryries by the station, and the Roseburn Bar further down toward Murrayfield Stadium. All of these are great examples of a warm and welcoming Edinburgh pub with well-kept and carefully served ales and a friendly atmosphere.

The area is not so well provided for in dining terms, but there is a particular gem of a place nearby:

Sushiya

small, intimate Sushi restaurant that serves deliciously fresh seafood, fetched daily from the fish market in Glasgow to ensure that all raw fish is of top, hand-picked quality and absolute freshness. Couple this with affordable prices, intimate surroundings and welcoming staff and sushi chefs and you have a sensational Japanese restaurant in the West End of Edinburgh that everybody should love.
