Edinburgh Castle

Dominating the Edinburgh Skyline, Edinburgh Castle stands proud, the history of the Scottish nation guarded behind its battlements. A visit here is an unmissable part of your Edinburgh experience.

Scheduled opening times for 2007 are:

  • 1 April to 31 September - Monday to Sunday 9.30am to 6.00pm.
  • 1 October to 31 March - Monday to Sunday 9.30am to 5.00pm.
  • Closed 25 and 26 December.
  • Open on 1 January and 2 January - please call for opening hours. Telephone: 0131 225 9846

The opening times for independent museums within the Castle may vary.

Entrance costs:

Adult £11.00 Child £5.50 Concessions £9.00

Last tickets sold 45 min before closing.

Child (ages 5 - 15); Concession (60 years and over and the unemployed).

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Castle Arms

A great place to kick back within a stone’s throw of the Castle. Great tucker day and night, upstairs in the bar or downstairs on the sofas, it’s a great mix of visitors and locals in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere with staff that are happy to help out with directions and a chat. There’s a menu specially for backpackers, and 10% off your bill if you’re a Dexplorer ordering from the regular menu.

The Little Inn

If you want to keep moving, just stop into the Little Inn where you’ll find great freshly prepared food, drinks and snacks to take away. You’ll see it just to your left when you’re standing at the roundabout below the Royal Mile. There’s 10% off for you at The Little Inn if you’ve got your deck in hand.
