One of the most famous of all Edinburgh attractions, the Camera Obscura has been in operation for over 150 years creating a magical panoramic image of the City that astounds even in the light of modern technology.
Also here is Europe’s biggest display of holograms along with countless amazing optical illusions that will blow your mind.
Opening times: July and August:

The last camera presentation of each day begins 1 hour before closing.

The Tartan Weaving Mill
Just up the hill from the Camera Obscura, and housed in what used to be the water reservoir, is this fully functioning Mill complete with weavers and looms where you can watch a colourful array of tartan cloth being made, get measured up for your own traditional outfit to be made by the long-established Geoffrey Tailor, or even have your photo taken in full Highland battle dress – complete with claymore!!
