Bus Info

We think buses are great. You can get unlimited travel for the day at the cost of only £2.50, just ask for a day ticket. It will get you anywhere in the City with a little working out of the routes. If you click on the card you will go straight to the Lothian Buses website, which shows you maps and routes and all. Don’t be shy of asking the locals, who are usually only too happy to help.

Open top bus tours are a great way to see the major sights, and you can buy tickets for a variety of services including a 24 hour ticket that allows to to jump off, and back on again, at a number of tourist attractions around the City. Some have an onboard guide pointing out all the interesting stuff you would probably miss otherwise, and sitting atop an open bus is a mellow way to work on your Scottish tan whilst bagging some great photos of the City. Buy your tickets on Waverley Bridge where it meets Princes Street, at the Eastern end of Princes Street Gardens. Buses depart regularly from here.

Buses to South Queensferry (to see the Bridges) leave from Waterloo Place, at the East End of Princes Street

Number 12 goes via the Centre of town all the way from Murrayfield to Portobello

Number 22 runs from Ocean Terminal and the Shore via Princes Street and out through the West End.

Number 7 runs from Newhaven in the North right to Cameron Toll in the South

A number 10 or number 16 will give you a good start for a walk in the Pentland Hills.
