The village Archanes is one of the best renovated traditional villages on the island of Crete.
Great archaeological sites, musea, different little churches, small caves, a gorge are amongst the fantastic things to see ...and of course you will find several taverns and cafes in the centre of the village.
The greater Archanes area is most ideal for activities such as trekking, mountain biking and horse riding through green trails, some of them preserved since Prehistoric times. The European long-distance trail E4 passes through Ano and Kato Arhanes to the end of its long journey from Scotland to Kato Zakros in Lassithi, East Crete.
